Choosing Your Community and Floor Plan
Your journey starts by selecting one of our thoughtfully designed, new home communities in the Greater Richmond area. Each community offers its own distinct character, amenities and homesites. Once you’ve found the perfect setting, you’ll work closely with a Boone Homes’ Community Manager to select a floor plan that aligns with your needs along. Once your personalized plan is approved, we’ll guide you through the contract documentation, ensuring that you have clarity, transparency and peace of mind as you move forward.
Plan Review and Pre-Construction Meeting
Once your purchase agreement is finalized, the next phase is the Plan Review Meeting. This important step is your opportunity to meet directly with our experienced construction team. Together we’ll:
- Review community-specific guidelines and building specifications.
- Confirm that your blueprints align with the details outlined in your contract.
- Address any requested plan modifications or enhancements.
- Discuss the preliminary construction timeline and next steps.
Upon final approval, your plans are submitted for permitting—bringing you one step closer to seeing your vision come to life.
Design Selections: Tailoring Every Detail
Designing your home’s finishes should be an exciting and fulfilling experience, and to support you throughout this process, our Selections team will serve as your personal guide, helping you navigate each design decision with confidence and clarity. You’ll receive a Buyer Selection Book, which outlines deadlines for each phase of the design process. From exterior materials and paint colors to interior features like cabinetry, flooring, lighting and appliances, our team will connect you with our trusted design partners and provide expert recommendations tailored to your preferences and budget.
Construction: Building With Integrity and Precision
Once permits are secured, construction on your home officially begins. You’ll meet with your assigned Superintendent for a comprehensive pre-construction meeting, this includes:
- Review the finalized construction documents and design selections.
- Confirm any outstanding plan changes.
- Outline the build schedule and anticipated milestones.
Throughout the build, you’ll have opportunities to visit the site during key phases allowing you to see the quality and craftsmanship firsthand. Your Superintendent will remain your primary point of contact throughout the process, keeping you informed and involved from start to finish.
Preparing for Closing and Move-In
Approximately one week before closing, you’ll meet with your Superintendent, and during this detailed walkthrough, you’ll:
- Learn how to operate and maintain your home’s systems and features.
- Review emergency procedures and warranty expectations.
- Identify any cosmetic or functional items that need to be addressed prior to move-in.
To ensure a smooth and timely closing, we also ask that you share your closing agent’s information with us at least 60 days in advance. You’ll receive a full closing package with final documentation and numbers, ensuring everything is in order for your big day. Then, all that’s left is to receive your keys and step into your brand-new Boone home.
Post-Closing Support and Warranty Care
Our commitment to your satisfaction extends well beyond move-in day, and at approximately 30 and 60 days after closing, our warranty department will reach out to check on your experience and encourage you to report any issues you’ve encountered. Before the 60-day mark, we’ll ask you to submit a list of items you’d like reviewed, so we can schedule a service visit if needed.
As you approach the one-year anniversary of your home, we’ll follow up again—ensuring that your home continues to meet the high standards we set and that you expect.
